Hank Foto

Hank Foto was born in Newport Beach, California, home of some of the best surfing locations. Hank began his photography career as a runner in the mailroom at Surfing Magazine in 1985. Today Hank remains a Senior Staff Photographer for the magazine. He contributes regularly to the magazine and his work continues to appear on countless covers and publications worldwide.

While in California, Hank worked under then Editor of the magazine and mentor Larry “Flame” Moore. During this chapter of his career Hank was a staple at Salt Creek in Dana Point alongside Flame. In 1989, he made the move to the North Shore of Oahu. There he established himself as one of the North Shores’ premier photographers.

Today Hank is one of the industry’s leading photographers. In addition to shooting for the surf industry, Hank is one of a very few photographers whose work is carried in galleries.

Hank freelances his work for many of surfings’ top companies and contributes to many worldwide publications, textbooks, biographies, pictorial books, videos, apparel, shoes, vehicles, and skateboards. The list of his accomplishments is extensive.
